Berry Patch Farms

A few weeks ago, Caleb, Skyle, Kami (our neighbor), and I went to Berry Patch Farm to pick pumpkins and play with baby animals. Skylee had a blast! First, we ran into Corrie, Liesl, and Lowen at the playground. Lowen and Skylee played as the rest of us socialized. Next we pet the baby cows, pigs, and goats. Skylee especially liked the pigs; we tried communicating with them, but they did not understand our oinks. :)
We finally found the wagonride to the pumpkin patch and embarked to find a perfect pumpkin! Skylee loved the mini field of baby pumpkins...she found the tiniest one to take home. It was a 25 cent pumpkin.

Candy, Candy, and more Candy

Today our apartments had their Spooktacular Halloween Festival!
I took Skylee down around 11 plannning on just staying a few hours, and we ended up staying all day.
The main attraction for Skylee was the bounce house! She jumped and jumped and jumped, unintimidated by the older kids, cautious for the younger...I joined her a few times. We even played duck duck goose (although she didn't like anyone but me chasing her).
Next, Skylee entered the donut race! Adults held sticks with donuts tied to the ends, and the children lined up and raced to see who could eat their donut first without using their hands. I am proud to admit my daughter won. And what was the prize for eating your donut the fastest?? Candy, of course! (I entered the adult donut race..and won. It is a special Poirrier skill to eat donuts, apparently.)
We thought about bobbing for apples, but the little boy in front of us got soaked in the process, so Skylee decided she did not want the same fate.
We painted pumpkins, made bead bracelets, won 2 goldfish (Skylee named one Daddy..she has yet to name the other), made lots of friends, ate a lot of candy...overall, it was an awesome day.
About 2 minutes after we came inside, Skylee passed out on the couch. She is adorable.

We woke her about an hour later to take her to Grammy's house! (Grammy and her are having a girls night tonight!) I cannot wait to hear all about it tomorrow. :)

Pumpkin Carving

The past few days have been especially busy!
Darcy, Skylee, and I had a girls date to Barnes N Noble where we spent several hours reading children's books, playing with the character stuffed animals (they read books with us), and practicing our inside voices. :)
I have a feeling I'm going to be buying a lot of books for Christmas, now. There are so many clever ones!
I am so happy Skylee loves reading.
We finished the day with oatmeal cookies and espresso (chocolate milk for Skylee), and Darcy bought Skylee a book: Can I Play Too? It is about an elephant, a pig, and a snake. (The snake is why she bought it..Skylee loves cute snakes.) And, I am proud to announce, it is the longest book Skylee has ever read! It has 58 pages, and we read it multiple times a day.
Her other favorite books at the moment include Brown Bear Brown Bear, If You Give a Pig a Party, Hooray for Fish, Sammy the Snail, Dora's Halloween Book, I Spy, and the Jungle Book.

The past two days have been spent picking out pumpkins, painting pumpkins, and carving pumpkins!
Caleb carved a spooky face in his pumpkin while Skylee and I worked on a spider web on another. Later, Skylee helped me carve a face in her tiny pumpkin, and she painted two pumpkins green and purple.
She especially loved pulling out the insides of the pumpkins and separating the pumpkin handfuls and the seeds.

Also, today she announced a new favorite meal: Chicken Noodle Soup with added carrots and peas.
It has been a week of soup with chili, vegetable soup, and chicken noodle.

Doctor Today :(

I am sad to report that Skylee has an ear infection.
This means lots of books, movies, secret forts, and rest.
Grammy Sherrie joined us at the doctor and helped Skylee feel better with hugs, kisses, and bubblegum.
Feel better, sugar plum. :)

We Love Daddy!

Tonight Skylee and Caleb cuddled up on the sofa and read book after book. Lately they have bonded even more!

Autumn Fun

Skylee and I enjoyed the outdoors today! She even successfully rolled down her first hill. Then, we went with Jen Jen to the mall for a night filled with fun, Skylee-shopping, and chili! Yum!

Gimme a Head with Hair

I'm a little behind!
Last Friday, Skylee and Lacey had another playdate. I learned taking two little girls to the playground/sandbox is much more fun than going through the trials of sharing!

Barbie Craze

The other day, Skylee received a package! The anticipation opening it was extreme!
She named each of her Barbies after her friends, and we played for hours!
