Toes are for Tickling

Skylee had her first sleepover Sunday night!
Margina, Lacey, and Skylee had a playdate, and fell asleep watching Snow White!
When we picked Skylee up in the morning, she was proud to show us the water-color paintings she had colored with Lacey! We were happy to be reunited. :)

Today was a counting day. Skylee counted the stuffed animals in her bed, the grapes in her bowl, the coins in my purse, the pumpkins in her room, how many times she jumped on the bed, and how many rubber duckies are in her tub. Often, she'd count in english and then in spanish! (11 was the highest she could count in espanol!)
We also had a lego party before daddy went out for his first day of school! I tried explaining "school" to her, but she kept saying he was just going to work.
Also, we gave her a dollar yesterday, and she keeps it in a secret butterfly box in her room. Today she called Caleb to ask if she could use her dollar on jelly beans at starbucks. He said maybe. :)
Skylee is not very subtle when she wants to get tickled. She'll get right in my face and yell "Mommy Monster, tickle me!!!" So she gets a lot of tickles. Earlier she wanted to "jump" high enough to touch the ceiling (aka me lifting her up), which ended up being a lot more difficult than I had expected!

In order to lift her high enough, my thumbs slide into her armpits, which tickles her, so she starts wiggling and giggling which makes holding her slippery business. But, for the record, Skylee jumped high enough to touch the ceiling today.

She is a pro jumper.

A day with Lacey at Cagle's Farm!

Lacey came over all day today!
First, we played at the playground and made sand castles.

In the sand, they started dumping cups of sand on each other and hysterically giggling. When I told them not to pour sand on each other, they started pouring sand on themselves! Too silly! Needless to say, by the time we went in, they were COVERED in sand. My baby sand monsters!

Then Lacey joined us at the doctors for Skylee's 2 1/2 year check up!
She is 36.75" tall (75%) and weighs 30 pounds (70%).
Skylee is so special; even Dr. Nalley said she is a very smart, laid back girl. (And he sees a ton of kids!) :)

After a quick dinner break, we gathered the girls to go to Cagle's Family Farm!
Skylee LOVED the corn maze. She was so fascinated and excited everytime she saw an ear of corn. It was really rather silly. Then Skylee showed off her superhuman strength by lifting pumpkins, and Lacey and her bounced the night away (literally) on the jumping-pillow.
The two of them get along so well together; they're like sisters.

Paint it Black..err Red

Today Skylee helped me paint a wall in our bathroom.
I let her pick the color and we went to work!

Picnic Recap

A few Thursdays ago, Skylee and I joined our friend Chloe on a picnic at Hobgood!
Skylee bounced back and forth between the food table (where Chloe and I faithfully guarded her apple juice and strawberries against the bees and flies!) and the playground. She met a couple cute little friends whom she followed around and tried to befriend. (In fact she tried to follow one little girl home! I had to intervene.) Oh, we made twizzler headbands too!

Skylee's Half Birthday!

We began her half-birthday with fruit loops and play doh. She made three stars and named them Mommy, Daddy, and Skylee. We snuggled on the sofa and watched Snow White (a new favorite) while munching on raisins, peanut butter, and crackers. Then to the play ground! She brought her barbies, and we made each of them a sand castle. Then I chased her up and down the stairs..over and over until even she was too exhausted to do it again! Back inside for storytime, cuddling, and tickling before she softly fell asleep.

As of this morning, here are a few of her 2 1/2 year old favorites:
colour: purple
food: pb&j (popcorn shrimp was a close second)
drink: apple juice
movie: ponyo
best friend: lacey and jamie (and me i might add!!)
activity: making bead necklaces

And this is the beginning...
:)
